Memories

There was a comment left on my blog a few days ago that has had me reminiscing about the good old days of high school. Then on the way to the grocery store, acting like the responsible adult that I think I have become, with my menus/shopping list in hand, I heard Forever Young on the radio (favorite song of one of my boyfriends). When I heard that song, I could have been right back on top of his car dancing with said boy. I wasn't driving down the freeway in Texas in an SUV with a kid in the back and two in school. I was 17 and in love. It wasn't even like looking at a snapshot of time. I could remember everything I felt or that I was thinking or that we did when I heard that song.

Well for our upcoming Enrichment activity, we are supposed to bring something from high school to "Bridge the Gap" between the old women and the young, so I was very motivated to go find something (even though I don't save much). Long story short, it was a trip down memory lane (with a slight detour cleaning out the closet underneath the stairs because that's where the keepsakes are so they don't get blown away in a tornadao, as well as the 72-hour kits which a mouse had got into, so it all had to be cleaned out). Anyway, I have been thinking about all the kids I knew and who I'm still in touch with. Some have died (Jason York, Bobby Langdon, Devon Lawson, and probably a host of other gangster friends). Some I still have contact with, but there are so many I thought I would never lose touch with and now I don't know where they are! So if any of you know where Gilbert, Jared, and Tom are - pass my blog address on to them. Or Sherri, Cathleen, and Jennifer. Or Erik, Mike, Larry, James, Jerry, & Tim. Or Brock, Brian, and Heath. I guess I mostly know know where the girls are - Michelle, Leslie, Becke, Belinda, and one boy - Andrew (whose signature I still have in case he is famous one day - I seriously thought about chucking that one today).

I chose to bring my Senior book for Enrichment - the one Josten's gave every senior when they bought their announcements. It has all the pictures, mementos, memories, tassles, tales, Senior wills (how was I so naive to not know what some of those boys were saying?!? I thought we were more innocent than the kids today!), and buttons from the good old days. NOT that I would want to go back, but thanks for the great memories:)

I think you should bring the puzzle pieces that say "I heart Jared" or "Melissa & Jared Forever!"

I'm excited to see your Senior book, I think I got one of those too but I have no idea where it is! I still don't know what to bring - I've thrown so much away that my options are limited! See you tonight, I'm excited, it's going to be fun!

You should definitely keep that signature of Andrew's - it will be priceless one day!!

WHAT? You cannot throw away my signature, Melissa! That is going to be worth some serious cash someday. Have I no value to you anymore? Even as a friend?

Larry Hartzell was in my office on Wednesday getting an estate plan put together. Heath doesn't live too far from us.

Devon Lawson died????? Send me an email with details. I did not know that.

Jason York was mentioned in our ward conference just 3 weeks ago.

Whenever I see a yellow car, I think you you, Melissa. Usually its only the ones that are spewing smoke and/or have footprints on their hoods, but it does trigger memories. That, and the beatles, but I try to avoid the beatles.

I miss my friends...

Andrew

Melissa - I was listening to "Everything I do" (Bryan Adams) the other day thinking back to high school. I pulled out my old yearbooks. I think I'll pull out my senior book later. I didn't know Bobby Langdon died?! what happened? I saw Tony Medina last year at this time. Eric Hegland was on the news the othernight talking about the Rebles being in the NCAA tournament. He was wearing a hat but had a thick beard and mustache and about 60 pounds on him. a reunion would be fun but I'm NOT in charge. I don't really know where any one else is. We do have some great memories!

HERE I AM! HERE I AM! Wanna hear something funny? My Dad was blog stalking this morning and told me he came across your blog. (Can I link you up to mine?) Now you know where I am. If anyone else I know reads this come to my blog and post a comment. I need to repent - I think I have been the WORST one (besides Becky) in keeping in touch with everyone. I see Gary & Michelle almost daily sometime - does that count? My husband spends more time with Gary some weeks than he does me - that's GOT to count for something! Leslie

Hi Melissa-

I was excited to see your comments on my blog. I am new to the blog world. It's a great tool to keep family and friends in the loop.

Thanks for the tip on the book. I am seriously going to hunt one down this week.

Congrats on your soon to be new arrival. How much fun is 4 girls!! I would love it!

Um, hello Melissa!?! Are you going to link us to you blog or what girl friend?!

And Belinda - would you update your blog already?! Aren't you addicted like the rest of us yet? Oh - and you didn't know about Bobby? So sad. My brother in law talked to Tony Medina earlier this year at a wrestling tournament in St George. He's back at church now - his reactivation story is a testimony builder!

Andrew, I think of Melissa when I see yellow cars. And I miss my friends, too, especially when I go blog stalking. Oh - and I don't have your signature, so be sure to sign something for me next time I see you.
