Sophia is
8 weeks old today! She went for her check up a few days ago. She weighed in at
9 lbs
12 oz. Thanks to modern medicine, she only had to have
3 shots (it used to be five but some have been combined). We have had
2 nights where there wasn't
any sleeping going on (lots of nights where there was only
some). And sadly there have only been about
6 smiles. Baby Sophia has acid reflux. The acid has burned her throat so much that she is hoarse. It is so sad. She is only supposed to be eating about
5 or
6 times a day but her body tells her it will make her throat feel b

etter if she eats. So it's more like
7 or
8 times a day. And those feedings are so unpleasant. As she gets full, the acid starts up her esophagus like heart burn and she starts screaming in pain. But we put her on some medication that will hopefully make a difference. Then maybe we can have more smiles. Enjoy the pictures!

Oh goodness-poor Sophia. That is terrible about acid reflux. I hope she gets better soon and will smile more. I love Sydney's joke. Pretty clever and a funny sense of humor. Does Sophia still look like Caroline? I thought she really looked like her when she was born.
girl...did I give you the bug to start up again! I can't wait to see ya tuesday! yeah for the same team!
Hey Melissa it's Stephanie (Iverson)Davis. I found your blog through Belinda's. Anyway I get the scoop on your girls whenever I talk to Erin, but it is fun to see them on your blog. Congrats on baby #4. Hope the medicine works well and quickly!
Poor baby. Poor mom. I hope the meds help quickly. Your girls are so beautiful. I'm glad they provide good entertainment for the baby. :)
So good to see updated pictures - Sophia is such a doll! Sorry to hear about the acid reflux though. That can't be easy on any of you.
How are you guys adjusting to 4 kids?

Hey Melissa! Samantha has reflux too and it's awful but the meds help. Don't be afraid to keep switching to find the right one. Zantac didn't work for her as well as Prevacid. Good luck!! I TOTALLY understand and feel for you. Aren't baby girls so precious?
Poor Sophia, I hope the meds will help, that is no fun for her or for Mom...
sydney cracks me up can I just say that ....she is so hilarious out on the field..sometime maybe I will get to c you
One of my good friends had the same problem with her little boy. He was nursing All of the time! She took him to the doctor several times and tried several medications. . . Prevacid ended up working the best. Anyway, she and her husband went on a cruise when he was about 8 months old and her mom ran out of the milk she had pumped and started using a can of soy formula. After one day on the soy formula he was a totally different baby! Poor little guy-- Turns out they had missed diagnosed with the acid reflux. He had every symptom of it, but he was just allergic to her milk. She could have avoided all the expensive meds and unpleasant feedings if only they had known. Maybe you've already considered this and ruled out an allergy, if not it's worth a try. BTW-- her little boy did grow out of the allergy and can drink milk fine now.
