A lot can happen in a month! Since last I posted, here are the highlights:
- Thanksgiving (Dan's sister and her three girls came. I hardly saw my kids all week! They did hair, played with the baby, and made gingerbread houses)
- Caroline got her tonsils out the day before Thanksgiving. Don't feel too sorry for her, it's not like she would have eaten the food anyway. Plus she ate all the Popsicles and ice cream her little heart desired. Her sisters all said, "Boo hoo! We want out tonsils out, too!"
- My grampy died. Sophia and I flew to Boston while Dan held down the fort. I met two cousins for the first time and had as much fun as could be - for a funeral. My grandfather was a Marine who served in WWII (so was my grandmother) so they are buried side by side in the veterans section of the cemetery. It was a military funeral with the flag, the bagpipes, and taps on the bugle. Beautiful.
These are all the Gutherie grandchildren. It is the first time we have all been together, but not the last.
Sophia with her cousin Carter. He was so sweet to her. She had RSV (which I did not know before we left for Boston) and so she felt terrible the whole time we were there. I felt terrible for dragging her around all weekend and making her be social when both of us were going on so little sleep. Thank you Carter for rocking her in her car seat and keeping her pacifier ready for her.
- On the way home from church last Sunday Dan crashed his car. Scary. But he and Kassie walked away without a scratch. We were all very blessed. The insurance company totaled it so we are down to one car.

It's been a crazy month. Keep looking down for more pictures. Next time I will post funny stories about the kids. Just as a teaser, I'll tell you that in church on Sunday Caroline was being naughty. Dan had already taken her out to the hall once. The second time he was taking her out to the car to spank her (he says I have to tell you that I was making him, that the people who read this blog don't spank their kids. I think you might just be closet spankers. Comments?) She flipped him off all the way out to the car - which he said made it hard to spank her because inside he was laughing so hard. Anyway, just a taste of what's to come.

Did you say that she "flipped him off all the way to the car"...as in the middle finger flip off?!!? That is hilarious!
We got your Christmas card and it's darling! You might get mine before Christmas...(I finally mailed them yesterday). Sorry to hear about your Grandpa!
She flipped him off? Oh my goodness I would be laughing too! I spank my children too. Haven't had to in a long time for the older two, but Don gets his leg swatted if he misbehaves.
That's awful that Dan got in a wreck, but definitely good him and Kassie were not harmed.
I got your card too- I have every intention of sending one this year, but if you don't get it, it's not cause you're not on the list, it's because I just didn't get around to it. :)
i'm loving the new posts... i come on once in a while and now that i've learned from tricia that it's not "stalker-ish" to post comments... i decided i would! i love seeing pictures of the girls, and it's nice that we made a cameo! :) we miss you!
First of all, I loved the card, thank you! Second, I am a closet spanker. Third, I am sorry about grandpa, kinda, you know he loves seeing the wife again. I love funerals like that where everyone gets together to celebrate the life of someone they loved. I ran into your mom at the grocery store, I just love her and all of you. By the way, is it wrong to flip people off, I didn't know.
I'm not even in the closet about spanking! My kids know that it is not an idle threat, although I seldom have to get past the threat part.
Glad to keep up with the Perkins! Miss you.
So great to hear what you've been up to. Sophia looks as cute as ever and I think we all have a Caroline in our families. Oh the stories we could tell. Hope you guys have a great holiday!
Alex came home one day from school and gave me the bird. When I asked her where she learned that she told me that it is what they do to all the cars when they are sitting on the school bus. Lovely. But, let's be honest if I were going out to be spanked I'd probably be giving someone the bird as well. It only seems right.
Okay... I'm laughing so hard at the bird comment, my incision hurts (of course, it hurts when I laugh at anything at all). I can imagine that I probably did the same thing to my parents!
SO glad to know that Dan and Kassie are safe! What a bummer of a thing to happen!
And... we'll be spankers too. Totally already planning on it.
Wow, you have had an eventful month. Sorry about your Grandpa. And I am sorry, but I still haven't stopped laughing about the flipping off incident. Too funny! For us outsiders that is.
Is it ok if I send your "flipped off at church" story to my mom and sister? They would get a kick out of it!
I have to tell you that I totally crack up every time I think of little Caroline flipping people off, I think Sharel told me about that recently for one reason or another and it just makes me giggle! I would not even know what to do, I think I would be too busy laughing!!!!
I admit, we spank. And when we do admit it to others it's like opening Pandora's Box- you never know who is going to agree and who is going to report you to child services...
When we were in Canada for Christmas I had to chase Hayley through the airport while wearing Samantha in a Snugli with a 40 pound backpack strapped on. Oh yeah, and I was lugging my work laptop. I hollered out that when I caught up to her I was going to spank her so a ticketing agent ran from behind the counter, caught her and brought her to me. I think she knew I really was going to spank my child. Hayley was spared. For the moment...
