Happy Birthday Dad & Caroline!

It's hard to have so many birthdays right after Christmas. On one hand, you can buy toys on sale and grant Christmas wishes you didn't know they had until after they unwrapped thier presents and said, "Oh, I wish I got a (fill in the blank)!" But on the other hand, you are still reeling from all the efforts and expenses of Christmas and you barely have time to wrap your head around everything when it's time to plan a birthday or three!

But whether you're ready or not, they come. So here is Caroline playing with a toy Dan said would be short lived (This is Caroline's face, with her glasses on.) But you can't imagine the things you can look at with this gadget!

Of course this wasn't the only toy she got. There were books from Grandma Claudia, Build A Bear and Target gift cards from Grandma Kass and Erin, Puppies in my Pocket from Aunt Jennie, and cards from great Grandmas. It was a great birthday. As for the cake, she and Dan have a deal....

Dan chooses the inside of the Costco cake and Caroline chooses the outside. This year she chose rainbow but next year she says she is choosing the Grand Old Flag (one of her favorite songs to drive the family insane with). A Costco cake gaurantees that we have to have people over to celebrate because one famliy cannot or should not possibly eat that cake alone. So luckily we have friends who like us enough (or like the cake enough) to come over and sing.
