A Long Awaited Honor

Finally! Two weeks ago, Sydney was inducted into the Hall of Fame at school. It was a great surprise for her but I had to break it to Kassie the night before. You see Kassie has been hoping for this honor since she started kindergarten four years ago and ... nada. So when I found out Sydney was the first, I knew it was going to be hard on Kassie. But after a few tears, she put a smile on her face and helped keep the secret. Then she happily let Sydney hug her at morning assembly when the principal announced Sydney's name. Sydney was all smiles.


But then, what do you know? An email the next week saying Kassie was finally getting in! So two hall of famers in two weeks! When they called Kassie's name, she didn't know we were standing behind her (she was engrossed in her Harry Potter book). For a second she couldn't decide whether to get up or not. But then she ran to the front and started looking for us. Sydney ran up and hugged her and it was all I could do not to cry in front of the whole school! Then on top of that, the art teacher awarded her for Quality Work, reading an essay she had written about a piece of art! Kassie said that was her best day ever. It was definitely worth getting everyone up and dressed to be at school before eight in the morning!
