This weekend, I wanted to live in a soap opera. Imagine this:
You're taking care of an orphan child who has never had anything in her short, four-year-old life. Her spoiled step sisters have gone and left her while they attend a fancy fund raiser. So you take her to get a milkshake at the local diner. While you're there, you eat what seems like a harmless hamburger. You drop the little orphan off somewhere (because people in soap operas don't have children) and go home. In the middle of the night you are rushed to the hospital for severe food poisoning. You are hooked up to IVs and there is a beeping noise in the background like you're on life support. However, you look ravishing. Stunning in a full makeup and hair (despite the bland hospital gown). Also, the hospital sheets are clean and crisp. All the hunky guys come to visit and bring flowers. And they never show one single shot of you barfing your guts out. When you are finally released from the hospital for this life threatening illness, you go home to an immaculate, expensively decorated penthouse (becuase there are no children to mess it up.)
That's why I wanted to live in a soap opera this weekend. My real weekend went something like this:
Dan took Kassie and Sydney to a Sweetheart Ball for Indian Princesses (which will be a post another day). Caroline chose to stay home and get her nails painted and go to Sonic for an Oreo blast. I was tired. I was supposed to be typing. I put a cheerful smile on and did the aforementioned fun stuff. While at Sonic, I realized I hadn't eaten dinner, so I stop at Wendy's and get a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. Mistake. In the middle of the night Ms. Clavel turned on the light and said, "Something is not right!"
Seriously, I've never had food poisoning and I never hope to again. I am wasted! It's Sunday night and I'm barely starting to feel like I can eat anything real. Plus, I've had the kids crawling on me, my hair is nasty, my sheets are dirty, and no one brought me flowers. But at least I had a hunky guy come visit me:) Dan was so good to me, even though he had a ton of stuff for Elder's Quorum on Saturday. And really, it's good that I don't live in a soap opera because that hunk would have probably been waiting in my penthouse with some bombshell to drop as soon as I got home from the hospital, like he was a drug addict or had a brain tumor, or was cheating on me.
I'll take the life I have, thank you, and tomorrow I'll be cleaning my own house and washing my own sheets.

Wow, great creative writing! :) I am SO sorry you got food poisoning. I love Wendy's jr bacon cheeseburgers! One time I got food poisoning from some chicken at Galaxy Diner in Provo. I didn't eat it all, so I got a doggie bag and brought it home with me. I was sick within 15 minutes of leaving the restaurant! Ben didn't believe I had food poisoning, so the next day he ate my leftovers and guess what? We were both throwing up for 2 days! Sorry you had to have that experience but I agree with you that real life is better than soap operas any day! :)
that would be hell on earth for me....oh I am so sorry you got food poisoning. I sure hope you feel better soon!
Hope you're feeling better - that actually bums me out because Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers are my favorite thing to get a Wendy's, bummer! I hope your tummy is better - especially if were pregnant sick too, I'm sure this episode was a very unwelcome surprise after the past few months! :) At least it would have been for me...get better soon!
I totally feel your pain...it's a double whammy to get food poisoning while you're pregnant. I got food poisoning from a Subway restaurant in Beaver, Utah when I was pregnant with Zachary....THE WORST!
I'm so sorry - I hope you're on the mend!
And you need to leave comments on our blog now (hint hint)
BUMMER!! So ya, I found your blog by doing a little stalking! Sorry about the barfing, but I'm really happy to find you!

Ouch. Food poisoning while pregnant. Not a pretty picture I'm sure. I had it as a senior in high school- I really would have preferred Chinese torture at that point, I can't imagine while pregnant. :(
And yes, as glamourous as the soap opera life may or may not be, I'll take my chances with my own. :)

Oh, such a sad story. Sorry that you got food poisoning while pregnant. That's a double slap in the face!
